Five days at home: my honest report When my company said we could work from home permanently, I said yes immediately. No more standing on a cold platform at seven in the morning, no more sandwiches eaten at my desk. Six months later, I still love those things about it. But I have noticed something. Some weeks I speak to nobody except my flatmate, and by Friday I feel strangely flat. I finish my work — perhaps more of it than before — yet I miss the small conversations that used to happen by the coffee machine. I am not going to give it up. I would just say to anyone starting: plan your week carefully, and make sure at least one day includes real people.
