I will not pretend the first months were easy. I filled in forms I did not understand, I was lonely on Sunday afternoons, and I once cried in a supermarket because I could not find the right kind of flour. Anyone who tells you moving abroad is simple has probably never done it.
And yet. My language improved faster in six months than in six years of classes. I learned to ask for help, which I had never really done at home. I made friends from four continents, and I now have a job I could not have got without that experience.
Was it worth it? Yes — not because it was easy, but because everything I found difficult taught me something. If you are thinking about it, at any age, go.
